1875:
- The Civil Rights Act of 1875 was passed. Under Amendment XIV congress passed a law making radical discrimination in public accomodations.
1883:
- Civil Rights Act overturned. They declared it unconstitutional because the 14th amendment forbids states but not citizens from discrimminating
1896:
- Plessy vs Ferguson - a case that upheld the Louisiana law that requires whites and blacks to occupy separate railroad cars
1917:
- Rosa moved from Tuskegee to Pine level, Alabama
1924:
- She is enrolled in Montgomery Industrial school for girls (a private institution)
1928:
- Rosa attends Booker T. Washington high school for 9th grade but drops out once her grandmother falls ill.
1929:
- She attends Alabama State Teachers college for negros (10th and 11th grade)
1932:
- Rosa marries Raymond Parks at age 19
1934:
- Rosa receives her high school diploma
1943:
- Rosa tries to register to vote and is denied. After, she becomes secretary of the Montgomery NAACP
1945:
- She receives a certificate of voting after 3 failed attempts
1955:
- She is arrested for refusing to give up her seat on a public bus.
